Gun Survey Results: 81% Pro-Gun

“We live in a world where people would put a gun before your lives." -  Trevor Noah

This past week the PT’s ran a survey asking our readers where they stand on gun control. Our campus's opinion leans towards a less restrictive and very lenient side of gun control. The winning response (42%) was only to require "Background checks (no mental illness or criminal activity) + age restriction."  The rest of the options were evenly divided, but only 19% felt that civilians should not have guns; that is, 81% believe civilians should have the right to own a gun.

America, I understand you have the right to bear arms and you must protect yourself. That is always the argument in the gun control debate. But according to statistics you're more likely to harm yourself with a gun than protect yourself. Most gun related deaths are suicides so if your argument is defense I'd have to say your argument is weak. On average there's more than one mass shootings each day in America. A mass shooting being 4 or more victims. 4 of the largest mass shootings in America have been within 11 years of each other. In 2007 the Virginia Tech incident happened where 33 people were killed and 17 were wounded. In 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Connecticut 28 people were killed, 20 of them being children, and 2 were wounded. In 2016 at Pulse Night Club in Orlando Florida 49 people were killed and more than 58 were wounded. October 1 2017 in Las Vegas Nevada 58 were killed and about 500 were wounded.

After a mass shooting in 1996, Australia banned semiautomatic assault rifles and there hasn’t been a mass shooting since. It's an interesting thought.

Panthers in Their Feels

We all have those days where we just end up in our feels whether it’s from listening to a song or at night when you’re alone in the dark without a night light. And it’s like your brain decides to hit you with all those good memories you had with your old boo and then to top it all off you decide to start playing sad songs to make yourself cry. You’re not the only one, there’s other panthers who have been feeling the same and are able to relate. I mean you never know, what if you and someone else are listening to the same song, feeling the same way, at the same time. Here are some of my go to songs:

Rather go blind by Beyonce

The One for You by Phora

Cual Amor by Banda Clave Nueva

One Summer Night by Danleers

Odio by Romeo Santos

Jealous by Labrinth
