PVHS Homecoming Game Celebrates Panthers' Senior Night
"It's crazy how it was our last home game already. It feels like the season just started to me. To be honest that game went by really fast, it was a fun game and a special game. It was a special game because it was our homecoming game and our last home game. It feels good to get the last win on your home field. It's even better when the people you love are there supporting you through the whole thing. CIF is a big thing and us seniors want to make it there, we just need to work extra hard these two weeks. I do believe as a team we will make it to CIF as long as we keep playing like we have we will be ok. These next two weeks are going to be tough. We are going to work extra hard and not fool around at practice at all. These two weeks are going to be horrible but I know we will get past it" -Erick Santillan
"Well I'm actually injured. So, I'm not going to play my last game this week and I'm just focusing on recovering right now. But, I still got two more games left and just looking forward to the rest of the season finishing strong and hopefully I can come back next week better. What we need to work on is our offense the most. I think we need to block better as a team and just have each other's back to block for each other." -Andy Cortez (12)
"I think it's going to be good playing our last game at home. There is going be a lot of fans and a lot of players here. There is also going to be a lot of emotions here for our last home game. I think what our team needs to work on the most is that our line needs to step up. I think they will this week and win this game." -Junior Hoobery (12)
"I feel excited for this last home game of my Senior year. I know football season passed by real fast. I'm trying win CIF this last football season and win this game. What I think our team needs to work on the most is to have our offense of line block more because we don’t get our Quarterback to throw the ball. For our Lineman in general, they just need to guard people so we can just run the ball, and pass one." -Jonathon Salazar (12)
-Daniel Rodriguez, Zander Moreno & Liz Morales
"It's going to suck; it's our last home game. But, I think we are definitely [going to] win this game. And It's going be my last time playing football. I think our team needs to work on running the ball, passing the ball, pretty much a little bit of everything. I think [we] can just come out and win." -Emmanuel Alcantar (12)
"This next game is our last home game, and you know I just want to come out here in front of the crowd, play hard, and get a win. It sucks because, it's bitter sweet pretty much because we grew up playing with everyone and this is our last home game. Playing in front of everyone here. And you know seeing going through these 4 years on the field, all of the memories, blood sweat and tears, and I think our team needs to work on is just being more consistent. And being more up tempo, and just you know not coming out like soft and just come out hyped. And just play throughout the whole game and we'll be fine." -Mathew Garcia (12)
"My last home game was great actually I had a lot of fun because all the cheerleaders came and cheered with us. It was also sad because I'm going to miss cheering at our own football stadium. Yes, I will miss cheering with my teammates because we've all gotten so close and we all have a great bond with each other. I will miss most about cheering on Friday nights and cheering on the boys either they win or lose. Being under the lights with everyone looking at you at halftime feeling nervously, and cheering with my cheer family" - Skylar Posovsky
"My last home football game was bitter sweet but also a very heart touching moment being a senior. I most definitely will miss my cheer sisters because we were always laughing and working hard. The one thing I will miss the most would be dancing for our halftime and cheering on our boys" -Emily Esparza
"At the beginning of the night I was excited but I didn't really think about it deeply. After all of us got called and everything two girls on the cheer team came up to me and gave me a poster and some balloons. That's when it really hit me. I will definitely miss cheering. Sometimes we all hate each other but at the end of the night on Friday we're all together for the same reason. What I will miss the most about cheering is bonding with my girls before games and taking goofy pictures" -Jackie Moreno
"I felt sad that it was my last home game because knowing that I won't come back as a high school student but a graduate is crazy. I can always come back to the games, but it won't be the same. I will definitely miss cheering with my girls. We shared many laughs and good memories that I'll always remember! The thing I'll miss the most about cheering on Friday nights is the adrenaline and excitement I always get right before our halftime performance" -Leah Torres
"It's bittersweet because it's nice to have senior night and it's homecoming and it's always fun to be at home. But this is the last one for us and it's always bittersweet but the last five games were fun. Yeah, we do have a chance to make it to CIF we have to win the last two for sure to get in and either way it's going to be tough. We have two good teams to play but if we come out and practice right and practice hard I think we will be fine. For these seniors I've coached these guys since they were freshman, a big group of them at least a quarter of them. I've coached them in basketball, baseball and football so I'm going to miss these seniors for sure. They are two very good teams and my preparation doesn’t change but we just got to be able to limit out mistakes and limit out turnovers and make sure we are practicing hard and playing hard" - Chris Etheridge (Coach)
"It was pretty surreal that it was my last home football game, realizing I won’t really be able to cheer for a home game again. It was pretty unfortunate that I didn’t even get to cheer for the game since I was a candidate for homecoming queen and I had to do the whole homecoming queen halftime thing and not cheer with my teammates for my senior night. Cheering with my teammates during football games is something I'll miss mainly because the crowds are always bigger during those games rather than basketball, and it makes the games more fun when the crowd does cheer with us and all the girls get all jumpy and excited because they’re saying things with us and creating a more upbeat atmosphere for the other spectators and the players. Another thing I’ll miss is being able to clap & dance with band during time outs or quarter changes because we don’t get to do all that during basketball season, or really any other time. Being given the opportunity to be Captain really meant a lot to me this season. My years on the freshman and JV team gave me an idea of how I would want to run a team and how I actually would execute my idea of running the team, and last year as co-captain I wasn’t given enough leeway to really do a whole lot. This year I’ve been given more of a chance to change things up or stick to “tradition” and I think that me being more lenient about certain things rather than being unrealistically strict has benefited the girls on the team be less stressed out and also has helped them be more comfortable with themselves and become more outgoing people. I still can’t believe that I've been given the opportunity to have such an impact on the cheer team and I hope that after our whole season is over (after football, the Christmas parade and basketball) I can leave the next captain with some pretty high expectations to live up to" -Ashley Gutierrez
